And I know that you know
that I know that it’s so
and I’m slow
I am low on time
So let’s go
Cause we know
That we're low
His mother’d call him
(She always thought I was ADD)
My Starry Eyed Space Cadet
(and she’s always right about everything)
I never reached my full potential, ‘cause
You were always lost, lost in your own concerns, and
Like every kid, I took things for granted
You didn’t mean to do things that hurt, like when you
Didn’t even think to meet up with my mom and dad the day I graduated
When you’re a starry eyed cadet
Oh oh oh It takes time to understand oh that you
Are not the protagonist in the show
And this isn’t even a show

Wonder how much faster I could go
Wonder how much further down this road
Wonder where I would be tomorrow
I feel the wind blow
Everything seems slow
And this blue ride seems never ending
Watching the fireflies
Would I get to the end of the world before the sunrise
When everything gets bright
Would I get to forget and start over again
You’d tell me to go but you want me to stay
Shouldn’t you know I’ll never go away
That look on your face, I have no words to say
What have you done and how you got this way
It’s not that easy but I wouldn’t mind
What we have I thought I would never find
Maybe you really are the crazy kind
But still, life with you is like
Sugar, sweeter than sugar
You got me wrapped around your finger
Sugar, high on your sugar
What you make me do, you don’t even know
You don’t even know
You don’t even know

You listen to my talk show
As my voice keeps getting louder
Screaming this world is insane
And my will to live could falter
You’re the only one who knows
That I swear like a sailor’s daughter
Each time you kiss me good night
I feel like I have found the answer
Would you believe I’m being sincere
If I say sweet things in your ear
My very most
You’re all I ever need
Would you believe I’m being sincere
If I say sweet things in your ear
You hate promises and love flowers in the field
Even if we’re only dreaming
Of fairy tale’s happy ending
My very most
You’re the only one that’s real

You want to trust your gut, but it's playing you for a fool
You want to trust your heart, but that won't pay for school
And now you're laughing it off, I never thought you'd be laughing it off I never thought you'd be laughing it off, I never thought you would
You don't know what you are what evidence you have
That you have lived a life it's making you feel sad
And now you're laughing it off, I never thought you'd be laughing it off I never thought you'd be laughing it off, I never thought you'd be laughing it off, I never thought you would
You want to trust your gut, but it's playing you for a fool
You want to trust your heart, but that won't pay for school
And then you sit at your Mac and write this out much better than I could with moxie, beauty
The trick is just to get something done and telling all the people likе me to sod off

Before Starry Eyed Cadet even began, The Very Most was (and still is) one of the bands we were (and are!) inspired by. So we were so psyched when Jeremy presented the idea of doing a split EP by covering each other's songs. Welp, we might as well write a song about each other, because why not. This EP is our collaboration and testament of our respect and love for each other's music, we had so much fun working on it, we hope you have fun listening!
